Lisa Malone Biography – March 2018
Lisa Malone, retired with more than 30 years of experience at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, and served in all roles of Public Affairs, including Director, to provide widespread dissemination about the space agency’s accomplishments to the public. She also served as an instructor at the University of Central Florida’s Nicholson School of Communication.
She has managed all aspects of NASA Public Affairs news media operations, television, web, social media, exhibits, public information, freedom of information, crisis plans, spokesperson role and internal communications. She arranged key events to engage the public and world-wide news media about the Space Shuttle, planetary and Earth observing launches, commercial launches to the International Space Station, flight hardware showings, and other high profile events. She has arranged for various motion picture and television crews to film on location at KSC. Malone also has managed the KSC Visitor’s Complex, Government, Education and VIP operations. She has served as launch commentator for 15 years for Space Shuttle launches, and expendable launch vehicles.
She currently serves on the advisory board for the University of Central Florida, Orlando, Nicholson School of Communication; and the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications Public Relations Advisory Council, Gainesville.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and her master's degree in management from the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne.
